How to organize a kitchen pantry and cupboards

Updated: 1 day ago

Do you find food items you know you bought, get lost in the sea of cans and boxes in the pantry. And maybe it's hard to know just how to stack all those cups mugs and water bottles so you can get at just what you want and not having to move everything around all the time. And Ug! What about the food storage containers! You know the ones I mean. The ones that make you want to pull your hair out, trying to find the right cover for the container!

So, What Can We Do About Organizing Our Kitchen Pantry And Cupboards?

Well, the first thing I recommend is going through any food items and throw out what is past the expiration date. Now that you have seen the expiration dates, after grouping the items by name (carrots, brownie mix, cereal), now put the food that will expire soonest, in the front and work back from there. Every time you bring more items home, bring the food on the shelf forward and put the recently bought products in the back.

Putting products in containers like cereal, rice, or beans, can help make the shelf neat and organized. If the containers don't come with labels, you can use tape that is writeable to make your own labels. This way everyone in the family will know what is in the container.

As-to were to put each product, it's helpful to put what we use most, in the easiest place to see and reach! Things that are there as a backup or occasionally used, they can go in spaces harder to access. But still try to make them as accessible as you can with lazy-Susens and baskets you can pull out. Anything that you haven't used just because you never notice it, these should go right in front of your nose if possible. And maybe try to come up with a meal plan to use that product soon.

Organizing Nonperishables

With nonperishable items the same is true to put items used most often in the easiest place to reach. For stacking them in a convent way, there are different options of helpful products that could be useful for you. Shelving that can fit in the cupboard can be used to put some items like mugs below and glasses above.

If you want to be frugal, things like pieces of cardboard slipped between the different food products to help separate cans or stabilize bags. Use nails to hang things on.

Food Storage Containers

Now for the hair pulling food storage containers. If you separate them into groups of small, medium, large and stack them inside each other than you can stick a label for each group under them. With the lids, have a container with sections in it that can separate the lids into small, medium, large. Don't forget to label each and you can have a separate one for round ones too. You can buy containers made for this or use a box that they fit in and put dividers in it yourself. This will make them neater and save on frustration because you only have to look through the size you need. And with the lids standing on end, you will see each one without having to move all the others.

So let's get organized! And I hope these tips are helpful and give you inspersion for your project.
